Dozens of top names in the mystery-writing world will converge on Pasadena June 11 and 12 for the California Crime Writers Conference 2011, hosted by Sisters in Crime/Los Angeles and SoCal Mystery Writers of America. The two-day event at the Hilton Pasadena will offer bestselling keynote speakers, four tracks of workshops, and a cocktail party with agents.
Two major mystery writers are set to keynote – New York Times bestselling author T. Jefferson Parker and bestselling Edgar, Shamus, Anthony, Nero and Macavity award-winner S.J. Rozan. In addition, four tracks of workshops led by a stellar faculty will help writers hone their craft. The agent cocktail party, which was a major hit at the 2009 conference, will be back to let attendees and agents mingle in a relaxed setting.
Keynoter Rozan will also be an instructor. Once again the conference will have four tracks of classes going both days. The 30 workshops and panels cover everything from dialogue to book contracts, agent queries to police interrogation techniques. The faculty includes award-winning authors, attorneys, detectives, editors and agents, all on hand to help authors take their writing to the next level.
To register, visit the conference website at www.ccwconference.org. Registration fee, which includes breakfast and lunch meals and an agents’ cocktail party, is $300 until May 31 and $350 (walk-in). The Hilton Pasadena is offering discounts for overnight hotel rooms for those who request the special CCWC rate when they book their rooms.
The CCWC is a biennial event hosted by the area’s top mystery writers’ organizations. For more information about Sisters in Crime/Los Angeles, visit www.sistersincrimela.com. For information about SoCal MWA, visit www.socalmwa.com
