The $1 million reward for Christopher Dorner may never be given to anyone. This is due to a loophole found in the wording of the announcement of the reward. According to a report by TMZ on Feb. 13, to get the reward, Christopher Dorner must be convicted for anyone to receive the reward.
The announcement for the $1 million reward for the California cop killer specifically stated that, in order to get the reward, information must lead to the “capture and conviction.” If the charred body is in fact the body of Christopher Dorner, there will be no conviction. No conviction, no reward.
“I saw this coming,” Dale Perkins, from Norman, said. “When I first heard the news, I knew [Christopher] Dorner would not survive. The police wanted him dead. Then I heard the news of the reward and thought 'that is money they'll never have to spend.' They weren't going to let him live to be convicted.”
All of the three rewards, including the $1 million reward and the two $100,000 rewards, offered included the words “conviction” or “capture” of the California cop killer. If Christopher Dorner is dead, there will never be a conviction. Some are even speculating that the California cop killer wasn't captured. Instead, he was cornered.
At the time of publication, it is unknown if anyone will be entitled to any of the three rewards offered. Of course, if the charred body inside the burned cabin in Big Bear is not Christopher Dorner, the hunt resumes and the rewards may still be up for grabs.
