Located in the heart of what used to be the Mission District's industrial area, Southern Pacific Brewery is a unique watering hole in an unlikely location. The building, a huge warehouse formerly owned by the railroad company of the same name, combines the historical face with a beautifully renovated interior that includes both the 15-barrel brewery and a large seating area for both food and drink.
Southern Pacific serves a large selection of beer, from their own brewery as well as many guest beers. Their California Blonde, an extra pale ale, is refreshing, light and balanced, and is perfect for drinking at a barbecue on a warm, sunny day.
Other beer selections made at Southern Pacific include their Anniversary Ale, a Belgian-style Dubbel, a Porter, IPA, and many other seasonal or limited release brews. According to their website, they have some limited release barrel-aged brews in the works.
Head down to Southern Pacific and grab a local craft beer and an order of sage fries. It's worth the trip.
