Are you wondering how you will keep your kids busy over the holidays? How about planning a trip to the recently renovated California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco? Located about 35 miles north of San Jose, the academy is an easy day trip, even with kids in tow.
From November 23 through January 16, the California Academy of Sciences presents 'Tis the Season for Science, which explores the sights, sounds, and science of the holidays. You can see live reindeer in the East Garden. Inside the academy, "indoor snow flurries occur twice an hour in the Piazza. View taxidermy specimens of the real birds mentioned in “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” including swans, geese, colly birds, hens, doves, and a partridge in a pear tree. Get into the festive spirit with art and music from the Bay Area’s greatest talents, including carolers, musicians, dancers, theater troupes, and more."
Want more time at the museum? Consider signing up for the Penguins + Pajamas overnight sleepover. The next one is December 30. What a perfect Christmas gift for the family!
