Several sections of freeways were closed down for rush hour traffic this morning between Los Angeles and Orange County as police searched for a gunman suspected of shooting and killing at least three people, according to The New York Times.
The Orange County, Calif. shooting spree, complete with two separate carjackings, ended with the suspected shooter turning the gun on himself.
Jim Amormino, spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, said that one of the deceased victims was a woman found dead in a Ladera Ranch, Orange Co. home around 5:20 a.m. today.
The shooter, who was described as a man in his 20s, fled that scene, after which police received a report of a carjacking with shots fired only minutes later. Then …
There was a second call of another nearby carjacking and fatal shooting near another freeway several minutes later. The suspect then apparently shot two people in another carjacking nearby.
When police caught up with the suspected shooter, the man shot and killed himself.
Police are not ruling out the possibility that more victims may have been involved in the man’s shooting early morning shooting spree.
