Tragedy strikes again for the Inglewood-based rap group, Cali Swag District. Rapper JayAre, 25, died this past Friday (June 6th) due to complications of sickle cell amenia. MTV News reports Cahron “JayAre” Childs was admitted to the hospital on Thursday night for unknown reasons and later died from cardiac arrest.

Cali Swag District is most notably known for their 2010 hit, “Teach Me How to Dougie.” Michelle Obama even participated in the dance frenzy on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.

Unfortunately, this is the second death for CSD. In May 2011, Montae "M-Bone" Talbert was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting. The two remaining members mourn the death of their friends.

Corey "Smoove Da General" Fowler last month tweeted, "Rest in peace Montae Ray Talbert ..woke up thinkin bout bro and how he kept shit live af."

Chante "Yung" Glee posted on a picture on Instagram with the following caption:

LORD! I no im not suppose to question you, but if it was cell phone in heaven ill b texting you... Really all i ask, is why? Because i dont no what to do! ... We started off with 4 now all thats left is 2 ... I made a promise to my self , that i would get us thru... And Just when i felt like we was winning... We would always loose smh! Im not a quitter, but i want to quit... Feeling like life gave up on me ... So imma just give up on it.... But i know u would want me to be strong... So turn up for me when u see BONE, and save a spot for YUNG the day i come HOME!!! :BIG 3rd!!! #mybrother Imma miss you!!!! Rest well

Smoove Da General also tweeted about JayAre on Friday night, "Sickle cell took my brother away from me today." He continues, "With that being said I'm proud to know that with that disease he made the best of his life."

JayAre succumbed to sickle cell amenia, which primarily affects the Black Community. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, “Sickle cell anemia is most common in people whose families come from Africa, South or Central America, Caribbean islands, Mediterranean countries, India, and Saudi Arabia.” The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also states that the sickle cell trait occurs in about 1 in 12 Black Americans.

M-Bone, 22, was a victim of self-inflicted genocide in the Black Community. A non-gang affiliate, he had two gunshot wounds to the head while seated in the driver’s seat of a black automobile in Inglewood.

Sickle cell and the crime cycle are both diseases plaguing the Black community.
