According to the University of Calgary Dinos website, Calgary will host the 2016 Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's hockey championship. The championship will take place at the Markin MacPhail Centre at Calgary's Canada Olympic Park.

Calgary is also hosting the 2015 Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's hockey championship. The dates for the 2015 championship game will be from March 12-15 and the dates for the 2016 championship game will be from March 17-20.

Calgary has hosted the Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's hockey championship. In 2001, the Olympic Oval was the host and the tournament was won by the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.

The Dinos have also won the tournament once before in the past. According to the Canadian Interuniversity Sport website, the Dinos won the 2012 Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's hockey championship at the University of Alberta in Edmonton as they defeated the University of Montreal Carabins 5-1 in the gold medal game. Dinos goaltender Amanda Tapp was named the tournament's most valuable player.

In 2014, the University of McGill Martlets defeated the University of Montreal Carabins 4-3 in double overtime in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Interestingly, there was a strong Calgary connection in the tournament because Calgary native Brittney Fouracres scored the game winning goal.

The 2015 and 2016 Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's hockey championship games are both currently scheduled to be on Rogers Sportsnet. The CIS men's and women's basketball championship and the CIS men's hockey championship are also scheduled to take place on the same weekend for the first time, with the weekend to be known as Super Championship Weekend.
