Snowmobiler Caleb Moore, 25, suffered a serious injury Thursday during the X Games. Moore clipped the top of a jump while doing a flip and went over the handlebars. According to a Jan. 29 report from the Toronto Star, Caleb is still in critical condition at a hospital in Grand Junction, Colo..
Moore’s snowmobile rolled on top of him during the incident and the crowd was relieved when he was able to walk away unassisted minutes later. Caleb went to the hospital for a concussion. Moore later developed bleeding around his heart, as well as another complication involving the brain.
A spokesperson for Moore’s family released a statement on Tuesday thanking friends, family and fans for their support and prayers. This statement was after Caleb’s grandfather and mother both issued conflicting statements Monday.
Charles Moore, Caleb’s grandfather, said,
“Caleb is not doing good at all. The prognosis is not good at all. It’s almost certain he’s not going to make it.”
However, Caleb’s mother posted on Facebook that there was some misinformation going around and that her son was fighting hard.
Caleb’s younger brother, Colten Moore, was also injured during the same competition. Colten separated his pelvis in a crash and is expected to make a full recovery.
A website has been created to make donations for Caleb Moore.
