On April 15, 2014, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s deputy conducted a stop on a car near the intersection of McKinley and Buren Street in Lake Charles for a traffic violation.
When the deputy approached the car and spoke with the driver, Brian K. Williams, Sr., 35, 7624 Speck Drive, Lake Charles, he detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and he appeared very unsteady on his feet. Williams advised the deputy that he had been drinking prior to driving.
During the investigation, deputies discovered a 4 month old child inside the car. Deputies also discovered Williams had an active warrant from Louisiana State Police for DWI 3rd, and was also driving while under suspension for a previous DWI conviction.
After Williams refused to perform a standard field sobriety test, he was arrested and transferred to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he also refused to submit a breath intoxilyzer test.
Williams was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with DWI 4th; child endangerment; and driving under suspension.
His bond is still pending.
CPSO Sr. Cpl. Joshua Bazinet was the arresting deputy on this case.
