For those interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry, a program to consider is Cal State East Bay's Construction Management Certificate Program. The program is being re-launched this fall!
In addition to construction industry professionals, the program is also valuable for architects, engineers, real estate professionals, and others whose effectiveness in their jobs may require a stronger, more comprehensive, and up-to-date understanding of construction management fundamentals.
The program, which can be completed in as little as 12 months, gives construction industry professionals the skills and knowledge necessary to take on broader responsibility and advance their careers.
Students will learn from seasoned professionals including the operations manager for the Northern California Building Division of Swinerton, with coursework that mixes lectures, group work, reading and writing assignments, guest speaker engagements, and Saturday morning field trips to local construction sites.
Students who take advantage of Cal State East Bay's Construction Management Certificate Program will be prepared for the challenges in the field, from managing subcontractors and managing cash flow to controlling costs and minimizing risk.
Admission to the program is accepted on an ongoing basis, and three years of experience in the construction industry is recommended. However, individual courses can be taken without formal admission to the certificate program.
Classes are offered in the evenings at CSUEB’s downtown Oakland Center. Tuition is $525 per course, $4,200 total.
