If you are a fan of screen classics like The Magnificent Seven, How the West Was Won and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, you will love this weekend’s California Philharmonic (Cal Phil)’s concert.

Entitled “Cowboys & Copland,” the concert will feature music from the mentioned films, as well as Aaron Copland’s classics like “Long Time Ago” and “Bought me a Cat.”

The great bass baritone Cedric Berry, who has participated in previous years with Cal Phil and become an audience favorite, will join again to interpret 18th and 19th century classics for voice and orchestra.

“Cowboys & Copland is an action-packed musical program with something for everyone,” said Cal Phil’s Maestro Victor Vener. “Cal Phil’s world class musicians, plus Cedric Berry's powerful and captivating voice, prove Americana sounds better than ever.”

The concert will perform Saturday, July 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Santa Anita Race Track. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. so you can bring along a picnic or purchase food from the various options available on site. Both lawn and table seating are offered.

The same concert will be reprised on Sunday, July 13, at 2 p.m. at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. This ticket includes a pre-concert talk with Maestro Vener at 1 p.m.

Cal Phil’s concerts are lively, enjoyable, and educational. Both are delivered in exquisite venues, one with unobstructed views of the gorgeous San Gabriel mountains, and the other within the unparalleled architecture of our town’s finest music concert hall.
