The California Golden Bears are coming to Lawlor Events Center this season.
The Nevada Wolf Pack men's basketball team, which announced its home non-conference schedule this week, will meet Cal at Lawlor on Dec. 7. The Golden Bears highlight the Wolf Pack's six-game non-conference home schedule this coming season.
The Wolf Pack, which finished 15-17 last season, lost at Cal last season 92-84 on Dec. 10. Cal last came to Nevada on Nov. 28, 2007 and beat the Wolf Pack 74-68. Cal will be making its 10th trip to northern Nevada this season (the Pack has won six of the previous nine meetings in Reno) in a rivalry that dates back to 1907.
The Wolf Pack is 11-25 in its all-time series against Cal. The Pack, though, has won four of its last five games against Cal at Lawlor Events Center. All four victories came from 1978-87.
The rest of the Wolf Pack's home non-conference schedule isn't nearly as appealing.
The Pack will meet Cal Poly (Nov. 7), Adams State (Nov. 17), Northwest Christian (Dec. 10), Cal State Fullerton (Dec. 13) and Marshall (Dec. 22) in its five other non-conference home games. The Wolf Pack will also open its season with an exhibition game on Nov. 8 at Lawlor Events Center against Cal State San Marcos.
The Wolf Pack will also go on the road for six non-conference games this season. They will play at Omaha (Nov. 29), Long Beach State (Dec. 3) and Pacific (Dec. 18) and will play three games in the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam Nov. 21-24 against Seton Hall in the first game, Clemson or Gardner-Webb in the second game and either LSU, Old Dominion, Illinois State or Weber State in the third game..
