Friday afternoon at Cal’s Edwards stadium, Colgate lost to the Cal Bears, 3-0, while Stanford beat College of Charleston, 2-0, as part of the Stanford Tournament.
Colgate is 1-6 and has scored five goals in seven games but looks to be improving after scoring three goals against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday before leaving upstate New York for the Bay Area.
“Overall the team put in a good performance today. Colgate came off a great win against Cal State Fullerton, a team we played in preseason, so we knew they were very capable. Our guys played solid,” Cal head coach Kevin Grimes said.
Teams will play again Sunday afternoon as the visiting teams switch venues to get the full experience of Bay Area, Pac-12 campuses.
Fourth-ranked Cal has started the season with an impressive, 4-0-1 record.
The College of Charleston is part of the Colonial Athletic association and is 1-4 thus far, early in the 2013 season.
