For the parent looking to save a few bucks by baking, icing and decorating their child’s birthday or event cake by themselves, a yummy go-to butter cream recipe is a necessity.
For this recipe you will need:
1 cup butter flavored crisco
3 cups butter
2lb powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp Almond extract (or any other flavor you desire)
For parents here in Waco, Texas these ingredients are all readibly available at your local Wal-Mart or HEB.
Be sure that the butter is 100% real butter and at room temperature before you begin this recipe. Cream the butter and butter flavored crisco together with either a stand or hand help mixer. Once the two are evenly mixed together slowly add and mixed in the powdered sugar until smooth. Add your 1 tsp of vanilla to the mix and then the flavor of your choosing. You can use things such as ½ cup of cocoa, almond extract, lemon extract, butter extract and the list goes on. Use your imagination and the flavors are limitless.
