Cake's Vince DiFiore interview before Palladium show part II

This is continued from part I. This Saturday, Cake comes to Los Angeles to perform and this includes music from their number one album. Part II of interview with Cake's Vince DiFiore continues here:

W.E. As the industry has evolved, it seems that more and more, the key to marketing and to the artistic process itself involves releasing related projects in a variety of media (web, vinyl, books etc...) What impact does this have on the creative process?

V.D. We make an album only with the songs in mind. All the other projects emerge after the music has been completed. We are open to all ideas, and the ones that are associated best to our music are the extra-curricular avenues we pursue.

W.E. You'll be coming to your devoted, excited LA audience at the Palladium on February 18th. What is your favorite aspect of performing in Los Angeles and how does this venue impact the atmosphere of the performance?

V.D.  What an amazing room the Palladium is!  It is always a blast to get in front of a Los Angeles audience. For all the entertainment in the area, I never get a sense that the audience is jaded in the least. The unbridled enthusiasm we feel from the audience is a beautiful thing. That this is included in my personal human experience is a freaky and outrageous blessing.

W.E. Cake is of course deeply connected to California. In which ways does your music reflect your unique relationship with CA?

V.D. We've been influenced and inspired by California bands for sure. From Sly and the Family Stone to Buck Owens.
