'Cake Boss: Next Great Baker' confirms that 'Momma Knows Best'

Tonight's episode on TLC finds Buddy Valastro, the "Cake Boss" looking for the next great baker on his competition show titled, "Cake Boss: Next Great Baker." This TLC episode is titled, "Momma Knows Best." The bakers are vying for a job at Buddy's bakery, known to most of his fans as Carlo's Bakery across the street from Hoboken City Hall and the $100,000 grand prize.

This episode is down to the final four bakers with a job, a magazine spread and the money on the line. The bakers are; Paul, the only male, and Jen, Ashley, and Gretel-Ann the distaff side. This episode is the determine the last three competitors. Buddy iced a cake, piped the edges and made a flower while blindfolded. Then they had to do the same thing. The winner will win a $3,000 certificate to "Bakery Crafts," one of the best places for bakers to buy their supplies. The winner was Ashley, and nobody was thrilled but Ashley.

The next elimination challenge was two teams of two; Ashley and Gretel-Ann and Jen and Paul. The challenge was a tribute cake, this time the tribute was to their mothers. The judges were Buddy's mother and wife, both moms.

The teams put their heads together and at five minutes, he comes in order to stop their work. He gave each of them two assistants; their own mothers. They were all thrilled because they have been unable to even talk to their mothers since the competition started. The mothers were good helpers, they saved plenty of time for the contestants. When the time was up for the mothers to leave, they had two hours left to complete the task. The team of Ashley and Gretel-Ann are having a problem with the royal icing running, while the Paul and Jen's cake is whimsical and fun. The final challenge was to bring the cake to the bakery and up those famous stairs. There they were greeted by Buddy's mother and wife, Lisa. The elimination was determined, and the judging proceeded.

Jen and Gretel-Ann's cake was determined to be sloppy because of the runny icing. They did not like the color of the cake from Jen and Paul, but it was neat; the piping was uniform and clean. The judges were deadlocked, leaving Buddy to make the final choice.

Jen and Ashley were safe leaving Paul and Gretel-Ann to duke it out. Paul pleaded his case for his children, and his business that failed in Florida. He is up to his ears in debt and wants the best for his kids.

Gretel-Ann wanted the same for her family. Unfortunately, Paul was the one who went to the box truck, and Gretel-Ann joined the other two women on to the finale. Then there were three on the "Cake Boss: Next Great Baker," which Buddy told them would take place in Las Vegas.
