Cake and more bands added to 80/35 Music Festival

Organizers of the 80/35 music festival have had a hard time filling their Saturday headliner spot this year, but the job is finally done. 2014 Saturday headliner Cake and a number of other acts were added to the festival yesterday. Friday night headliner Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes) and twenty-one other acts were announced back on April 15. Other notable acts among the 21 bands and 9 late night DJs added yesterday include Surfer Blood, Those Darlins, Boy & Bear, The Whigs, Pert Near Sandstone, Useful Jenkins, Cirrus Minor, Gloom Balloon, Zeta June, and DJ Jesse Jamz.

The 2014 80/35 Music Festival will take place on July 4 and 5 in Des Moines' Western Gateway Park. The seventh annual indie and jam music festival will feature nearly 50 acts on three stages. It is organized by the non-profit Des Moines Music Coalition and operated largely by volunteers. More acts, along with set times, are expected to be announced next week. One-day all-festival passes are currently $29, and two-day passes are $49. After Friday, June 6, passes go up to $39/$65, and they will be $45/$80 on the first day of the festival.
