Cypress Academy's Caitlin Atkinson was the top scorer in the senior elite division at the 2010 Metroplex Challenge, held last weekend in Dallas, Texas.
Atkinson, 15, totaled 53.0 to beat Brooke Parker (52.85) and Cypress teammate Jessie Jordan (52.25).
WOGA's Sophia Lee finished fourth all-around (52.15) and had the highest score of the entire senior elite division with a 14.35 on vault.
The Metroplex Challenge marked the return of 2008 Olympic Trials participent Chelsea Davis, who has struggled with injuries for more than a year. Davis competed only on balance beam (12.225) and uneven bars, where she had the highest score of any competitor (13.6).
Parker was the top scoring gymnast on balance beam (13.45) and Atkinson was first on floor (13.55).
Texas Dreams's Kennedy Baker topped the field in the junior elite division, winning the all-around with 56.8 over Cincinnati Gymnastics Academy's Amelia Hundley (54.95). West Coast Elite's Hallie Mossett was third (54.5), followed by Ericha Fassbender (53.7) and Lexie Priessman (53.5).
Baker, the reigning junior national champion on uneven bars, had the highest score on vault (14.3) and bars (14.2). She was bested on beam only by her training partner Kiana Winston (14.5-14.4). Baker and Hundley each recorded 13.9 to tie for first on floor.

Buckeye Gymnastics gymnasts dominated the Hopes category, sweeping the top three places in the all-around. Brynn Vinicky led the field with 48.9, followed by Jenna Swartzentruber (48.75) and Nia Dennis (48.2).
World Class Gymnastics's Taylor Harrison and teammate Ashley Lambert won the Level 10 A and Level 10 B competitions, respectively, while Kiersten Wang of Colorado Aerials was the first place finisher in Level 10 C, followed by Sarah Grady and former GAGE standout Sarah DeMeo.
Note: Chellsie Memmel's younger sister Skyler placed eighth in Level 10 A and won balance beam with a 9.325.

Skyler just turned 13, too. I'm excited for her...though she'll have to push on for the 2016 games. Glad to see that she is not being rushed into elite.
