The most interesting part of Herman Cain's keynote address yesterday at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference was that he endorsed no candidate.
Instead, his "unconventional endorsement" was of "We The People" as he spoke of "Cain's Solutions Revolution". He did not get back into the race ,he did not endorse one of the remaining candidates, he did not even refer to the latest gambit of Stephen Colbert.
His talk focused on the ailing economy, the country's "continuous crisis mode", and how he was asked to "Keep 9-9-9 alive."
The debt has risen 50% since President Obama took office, and now he is asking for another 1.2 trillion on top of that. In 1999 (at which he alluded to his 9-9-9 plan) my first grandchild was born, and the national debt for every man, woman, and child in America was $20,700. At the beginning of 2012, my fourth grandchild was born. He was $48,800 in debt before he took his first breath! And if President Obama spends another 1.2 trillion dollars, every man woman and child in this country will be looking at 53,000 in debt and climbing.
You’re not being told the truth about this economy. This economy is not recovering. Less than 2% GDP last year is called a recovery. China had a “bad” year last year, and they grew at 8%! This economy is on life support, and the Union is in trouble.
"Washington is broken” Cain yelled, "and America is broke. What part of broke don’t they understand?"
He announced that, with this unconventional endorsement, that change would not come from Washington, but from the ground up.
“I’m endorsing a people, the people who started this country. We have allowed the politicians to take it away from us. This revolution is going to have to be driven from the bottom up.”
"We the People are still in charge of this country."
Cain remained in Charleston last night and today, and sat with this writer and about 30 others to view the remaining challengers debate. He shook his head at the screen in several cases, further illustrating his disppointment in the remaining candidates left behind.
He is embarking on a bus tour to push this campaign further, known as the Cain's Solutions Revolution tour. More information is available at cainconnections.com.
