Despite having to complete head-to-head with a recently retweaked BMW 3-series and Lexus IS, Cadillac ATS sedan has proven itself a bonified winner, having drawn new younger customer base to the brand. There’s little time for complacency, hence the anticipated summer arrival of the 2015 ATS coupe. There are also rumors of a Vsport model to complement that of the XTS sedan. However, Cadillac recently threw a curve ball by announcing a limited production model for the ATS sedan, called the Crimson Sport Edition, which will only be built for the spring selling season.
The Crimson Sport Edition exclusive Crimson Red Metallic finish is the main focus point for this limited production Caddy; up until now the color exclusive to the CTS-V Coupe and Sport Wagon. Inside, upgrades include a heated steering wheel in microfiber suede, a microfiber suede shift lever and heated front seats. This is the first time that the Cadillac has offered a microsuede wheel with heat. Interior color choices include Morello Red with Jet Black accents, Caramel with Jet Black accents, Jet Black with Jet Black accents or Light Platinum with Jet Black accents.
Besides the Crimson Sport Edition’s exclusive treatment other distinguishing enhancements include special18-inch Manoogian Dark Silver Premium Painted wheels; a ground effects package with color-matched front splitter, rocker moldings and rear diffuser; and an aero decklid spoiler.
The Crimson Sport Edition is available on either the 2.0T Performance Collection (automatic transmission only) or the 321-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 Premium Collection, in both rear- and all-wheel drivetrain configurations. Premium Collection models with rwd offer a Track Package.
Pricing begins at $46,010 for the 272-horsepower 2.0T and $51,010 for the V6 including destination fees, which equates to a premium of $2,990 over a regular ATS. Navigation, sunroof, the Driver Assist Package and Advanced Security Package are all optional.
The ATS Crimson Sport Edition rolls into dealership lots beginning at the end of March.
