Cabrillo Bridge traffic cut off

See also

The longstanding Cabrillo Bridge drive on Laurel Street that runs from Sixth Avenue into Balboa Park closes January 2nd. Traffic on the bridge will be limited to walkers, and bicyclists walking their bikes.

Workers will put in a new road surface and install lighting along the park entryway and exitway. The work lasts until April 30, 2014.

The bridge needed a retrofit to strengthen the crossing against seismic damage, and rehabilitation work. The new deck will stand in the place of the old for the 2015 Centennial Celebration.

Drivers can park in the Inspiration Point parking lots on the east side of Park Boulevard. New green tram runs out of Tram Central take park visitors into the park on a loop every 10 to 12 minutes. The trams stop in Plaza de Panama.
