February 13, 2012; A Cabot Junior High School Science teacher was arrested today after an ongoing investigation that she had inappropriate contact with a student.
According to Cabot police; Stacey Stracener was arrested on 11 counts of First Degree Sexual Assault and 2 counts of Second Degree Sexual Assault after a report was filed last week that Stracener had allegedly made contact with a male student at the school. Cabot police began an investigation after the complaint was filed with the school of Stracener’s activity.
Stracener was arrested and taken to the Lonoke County Detention Center where she will appear in court tomorrow on the charges.
The Cabot School District released the following statement:
The Cabot School District suspended a Cabot Junior High North teacher last week as police and district officials began investigations into an allegation of improper conduct between the teacher and a student that were brought to the attention of district administration on Tuesday evening. We have been advised by the Cabot Police Department that formal charges have been filed, and the teacher reported to the police department on Monday afternoon.
Any allegations involving improper conduct in our school system are taken seriously and investigated immediately, and appropriate corrective action is taken if prove to be accurate. The district is legally required to follow a specific process in regard to student and personnel privacy policies and due process requirements as set forth in statute.
