Cabana Bay Resort, the newest hotel at Universal Orlando Resort, celebrated its grand opening on March 31. The first phase of the hotel welcomed its very first guests to enjoy the retro theming intertwined with modern conveniences.

Cabana Bay Resort is considered a value resort, meaning that its rates are cheaper than the other hotels on property. However, that doesn't mean there was any skimping on amenities and theming. Click the slideshow accompanying this article to see the lobby and hotel grounds, which will make you feel like you stepped back into the 1950s and 1960s. You'll even find classic cars parked along the curb in front of the main building.

The grand opening featured a special welcome for the very first family to check in. The Hicks family of St. Petersburg, Florida, had that honor, and they won a free hotel stay and a special tour with Adnan Bizri, the resort's managing director, and Russ Dagon, vice president and executive project director at Universal Creative.

The hotel features an on-site bowling alley, huge swimming pool with water slide, and other activities, as well as buses to take you to the parks. The only major feature that it lacks is the Express ride access offered at the other on-site hotels.
