The Bacon Habit returns to the California State Fair with a new item on their menu that harkens back to their humble beginnings with a Churro food cart. Owners Nathan and Amber Vandewarker and Ron Peet now bring their bacon wrapped, Jack Daniels whiskey infused churros to their bacon filled menu.

Last year of 2013 was The Bacon Habit team's first year at the State Fair with their full trailer rather than their small churro cart. The food items all wrapped, topped or twisted with bacon were a big hit with fairgoers because most people know that "everything is better with bacon." They have also changed their chicken kabob to a chicken strip with the same delicious herbal seasoning that made it so irresistibly delicious last year.

The Bacon Habit continues to serve the many favorites that include a large turkey leg wrapped in bacon, bacon wrapped hotdogs, bacon wrapped "porkabella" mushroom kabobs, beer battered fried thick bacon strips, chocolate covered bacon topped cheesecake and more. The team of Nathan, Amber and Ron are all enthusiastic about their bacon delights and enjoy coming up with new, tasty menu items which Amber states are often inspired by their bacon loving patrons' suggestions and comments about what they'd enjoy tasting wrapped in bacon.

The team originates from San Diego and now travels to various summer fairs and festivals while their school teaching jobs give them that bit of spare time to work even harder rather than chill by the pool or fish at the lake. The Vandewarkers have also created something even more delightful than their new bacon fair treats with a one month old baby name Lila. Mom and Pop and Grandpop stay busy at the California State Fair and other events while little Lila stays in the more tolerable hotel atmosphere cuddling with Grandma waiting for the hard working crew to return.

There are many kinds of popular foods to try at the California State Fair from the traditional corndogs, cotton candy, burgers, lemonade and barbeque to the unusual and the whacky. There is nothing whacky about bacon and when combined with a churro it makes for an ideal sweet and salty combo, crunchy and delicious topped with a bit of whip cream and some maple syrup for dipping. It's a Bacon Habit treat highly recommended for both churro and bacon lovers.
