January 31 – February 2, 2013: Take note of these dates and prepare yourself for some of the best Zins around. San Francisco is hosting the 22nd Annual Zinfandel Advocates and Producers (ZAP) Wine Festival. Stretching over three days, four fantastic events put the spotlight on more than 200 wineries. Taste barrel samples and new releases, attend educational seminars and culinary demos and indulge in decadent food pairings and a lavish dinner.
Here’s the line-up of events:
Thursday, January 31, 2013: “Epicuria: Food & Zin Pairings” brings together 50 Zins with amazing treats from top chefs at the San Francisco Concourse. Get up close and personal with winemakers and producers as you pair their lush Zinfandels with delicious culinary bites.
Friday, February 1, 20123: “Flights! Forums of Flavor” guides you through Zinfandel flights during an in-depth seminar and tasting at the Fairmont Hotel. For the Zin enthusiast, this is a unique opportunity to delve into the history and philosophy behind the wines. In collaboration with the Historic Vineyard Society, this intimate salon gives you the chance to learn about old Zinfandel vineyards.
Friday, January 27, 2013: “Winemakers’ Dinner: A Benefit with Taste” invites you to enjoy a fabulous Casablanca-style evening at the Fairmont. Start with a walk around tasting, live auction then an extravagant dinner. Savor private selections of Zinfandels and the company of winery owners and producers. Proceeds benefit the Heritage Vineyard Projects.
Saturday, January 28, 2013: “Grand Tasting: From A to Zin” features barrel samples, new release and other specials from more that 200 wineries at the San Francisco Concourse. Meet winemakers from different regions in the most comprehensive collection of Zins in the world.
