CA indie/punk hybrid Build Us Airplanes deliver with new album

Build Us Airplanes - At the End of the Day (Sell the Heart)

On At the End of the Day, their latest, the band manages to harness the sonic power of a band like Hot Water Music with the catchy melodies of a group like Bouncing Souls. The album kicks off in a decidedly punk rock vein with the up tempo “The Running Song,” but shades of indie rock (“On and On,” and the plodding “Everything Out of Me”) pop up enough to keep the band from sounding too familiar. The sublime “Strings,” sneaking in at the end of the record, is a perfect example at how deft these guys are at merging the two genres – like The Clash fronted by Thom Yorke.
