Another American legend has fallen victim to the likes of the wooly swamps of Florida. The Corvette Z06 is an amazing sports car with exquisite handling, performance, and curb appeal. However, it lacks the ability to float! This could happen to anyone, especially here in Florida. Just because the car was wrecked into a swamp, doesn't indicate it was the driver's fault or it occurred due to abusing the vehicle.

If you've driven anywhere in Florida that is off the beaten path, you realize that we don't have the best signage to warn of curves. It's possible that the driver wasn't paying attention, was going to fast, or there was simply no sign to warn him of the change in road ahead! Maybe the Florida Skunk Ape jumped out in front of him. We have no idea! Don't throw the "dumb driver" or "bad traction" stones just yet, we don't know the full story; only the outcome. It could be anything that caused this car to swamp dive.
Take a look at the scenery where the wreck occurs, it is very dark. Most of the time even the best OEM headlights cannot illuminate the dark Florida jungle roads appropriately to identify curves, obstacles, and animals. I personally use HID lighting in combination with custom wiring and a set of fully legal auxiliary lights by Hella. Of course the Corvette would look silly with big Hella auxiliary lights, but you get my point.

To drive safely down here on any of the roads that aren't mainstream, drivers actually need the additional lighting provided by HID, auxiliary, and custom light wiring. According to Florida light laws, we are allowed to have one set of auxiliary lights mounted no lower than 16 inches and no higher than about 40 inches from the ground. They made this law for a reason, the roads here are treacherous!
