C2E2 Brings Out the Super Hero in Everyone

By Jeramie L Bizzle

Comic books, video games and big time celebrities are what describe the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo known as C2E2.
The event that came to Chicago from April 25th – 27th gave everyone not only the chance to come with their best costumes but also shop, get autographs, meet their favorite stars and get the latest news on the world of entertainment.
This year, stars from the hit shows Teen Wolf, Defiance and the WWE including Hulk Hogan and Kevin Nash came to meet and greet fans.
New venues this year included Warpo toys whose goal is to recreate collectibles such as die cast cars and action figures for the collector who has everything. “We are making yesterday’s toys, such as vintage figures that give the look and the feel of the originals”, said Eric LeFeber, who is the secretary and owner of Warpo.
“We have guys like Eddy Mosqueda who worked on the Masters of the Universe figures and Ken Kelly who done the Dungeons and Dragons, we are working a prototype that we can’t reveal yet but we say it and it looks amazing. It will be available in June”, he said.
Though a comic book convention, authors of various books were present to tell the crowd about their upcoming releases. Author Christina Barr, Ninja Dust and Super Kid, has been to C2E2 for 5 years said that her inspiration behind the creation from her books come from all over, especially her father.
“He would tell me all his crazy stories and I interpret them in my stories. Superficial is a super hero mystery where a reporter comes to this school and tries to find out which of the kids are super heroes. Right now, books are in the year of the sequels”, Barr said.
The gamer's were able to get a taste of the latest XBOX One title Titan Fall by competing in a head to head battle with other players while getting informed about how games are created.
What is C2E2 without the costumes? Some of the most eye popping costumes include the Bumble Bee Character from Transformers, Ant-Man, and The Power Rangers among others.
Mark your calendars for C2E2 to make its return to Chicago on April 24th- 26th in 2015.
