There are many restaurants in the Fort Smith area that offer quality cuisine, great service and fair prices. However not all of these restaurants take an active part in their community. Now this is not meant to say anything negative about these restaurants. Many area restaurants do take part in fundraisers and donate to charity. However not all fundraisers and charities can say that the fruits of their labors are seen in the immediate vicinity. C&C Catfish in Van Buren is bypassing the middle man by becoming a partner with Cedarville Elementary School beginning January 16th.
Cedarville is a town located about fifteen miles north of Fort Smith, yet it contains one of the best school systems in the River Valley. Cedarville Public Schools understands that education has changed a lot in the last twenty years, and that much of what children are taught today comes from the internet rather than a traditional textbook. That is why the school system of this Crawford County community wants to introduce iPads into the elementary school in Cedarville. This proposition is not cheap, and that is where C&C Catfish is helping to make the difference. On the first Tuesday of every month, when someone from Cedarville dines at C&C Catfish, ten percent of their total bill will be given back to Cedarville Elementary School to help pay for the iPads. Many people may see this as just part of doing business, but Brian and Allison Reding see it as getting involved with their community. C&C Catfish will also be offering gift certificates as prizes for the accelerated reader program at the elementary school, as well as gift certificates for the teacher of the month, which will be awarded on the last Friday of the month. These particular gift certificates will be good for a dinner for two at C&C Catfish.
There are many fine restaurants in the Fort Smith area, but folks from Cedarville who eat at C&C Catfish will receive the opportunity to give back to their elementary school along with their entree and Hush-puppies. Come down and support the community restaurant of Northwest Crawford County.
