The Brigham Young Cougars are coming to Mackay Stadium this fall and the Nevada Wolf Pack is indeed going to Florida State.
BYU, a former Mountain West Conference school will play the Wolf Pack on Nov. 30 at Mackay Stadium, the Wolf Pack announced on Monday. The Wolf Pack also announced that it will keep its date at Florida State on Sept. 21 at Tallahassee.
The match-up against the Cougars replaces a game that would have been played at Mackay Stadium against the Oregon Ducks on Sept. 7. Oregon will instead play at Virginia on that date. The Wolf Pack was also trying to get out of its game against Florida State but the Wolf Pack could not find a suitable replacement for the Seminoles on that date.
"We needed to make some changes to help balance our schedule and prepare our team to be successful within the Mountain West,” Wolf Pack athletic director Cary Groth said in a statement released by the university on Monday.
“Playing UCLA is a good game for us for a number of reasons, including our recruiting efforts in California. We exhausted all possibilities to address the Florida State game and could not come up with a mutually acceptable resolution. At that point, moving the Oregon game was our best option.”
The Wolf Pack finalized its entire non-conference schedule for 2013.
The Wolf Pack will open the season at UCLA on Aug. 31 before returning home to face UC Davis on Sept. 14. The Pack will travel to Florida State the following week on Sept. 21 with BYU coming to Reno two months later on Nov. 30.
The Mountain West will finalize its conference schedule in the coming months.
The Wolf Pack also announced it will play at Oregon in the 2019 season and that it will play at BYU in 2014 and 2010.
