The BYU, Utah, Weber State and Utah Valley men's basketball teams are all eliminated but it matters none because the BYU Cougars womens basketball team is getting a ton of run nationally leading to up their NCAA Sweet 16 game against No. 1 UConn later this week.
The venerable New York Times even devoted an article to the Cougars on Thursday, March 26, giving readers poignant snapshots of each BYU star -- along with a more detailed look at head coach Jeff Judkins.
The journey the Cougars are enjoying has even started to dawn on players like guard Lexi Eaton, who recognizes BYU is doing something special during March Madness on her Twitter page.
“Feeling very blessed to be a part of such an amazing team putting together a magical season.…” Eaton tweeted.
Not to be outdone, US News and World Report even devoted one page Thursday to the Cougars’ stunning run in the NCAA Tournament -- labeling them “party crashers” as they prepare for their toughest opponent yet -- the No. 1 Huskies.
BYU will take on UConn Saturday, March 29 in Lincoln, Nebraska in the NCAA Sweet 16 for the right to go to the Elite Eight.
