Byrd Books in Bethel Connecticut is an independent book store that promotes local Connecticut authors, poets publishers,and illustrators. They have a special section of the bookstore that displays and sell books by author and publishers from the state. CT authors produce fiction, poetry, cookbooks, mysteries, thrillers and books in many other genres.

Byrd Books in Bethel has many author book signings and special events. The next is on Saturday, March 22 the author Len Vlahos talks about his book "The Scar Boys". During this event there will be a video, storytelling, and live music. His book is about a teens life written in college admission essay. He is executive director of BISG and former chief operating officer of the American Booksellers Association.

On April 12th at 2 p.m. author Susan L. Schulman talks about her book "Backstage Pass to Broadway". She was a press agent that worked with many famous stars like Lauren Bacall, Henry Winkler, Robert Redford and Glenn Close. During this event she talks about the book and what a press agent does for their clients. On April 25th at 7 p.m. author Donna Marie Merritt will read poetry and discuss her book "Her House and Other Poems". She is the author of several poetry books and science and math books for children.

The store has an active book discussion group that meets on Thursday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Call the store at 203-730-2973 for more information. Every Wednesday at 10 a.m they have Story Time for children. No registration is needed. The store always has a large table of discounted books for customers to browse through. Most books are 60 percent off and more.

Byrd Books has a childrens book section with a good selection of books for children all ages and graphic novels and comics. Customers can order books that they cannot find at the store. They carry fiction, history, nature, pets, political science, and biographies. The store carries primarily new book with a special emphasis on Bethel authors. The bookstore is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m and Sunday from 12-4 p.m. Stop by on the weekend with family and friends. It is located at 126 Greenwood Avenue in Bethel next to Verizon. A great place to pick up the latest books and attend author book signing.
