Interventions, such as bypass surgery and angiography, can be life-saving when used while someone is actively having a heart attack and in other select situations. In most instances, however, these medical procedures offer no permanent fix and often cause significant pain and sometimes even death.
Except for a minority of patients, bypass surgery and angioplasty have never been shown to prolong life or prevent heart attacks.
Consider this fact, as stated by Dr. Micheal Ozner in his book The Great American Heart Hoax: "American patients are 7 times more likely to undergo coronary angioplasty and bypass surgery than patients in Canada and Sweden, the number of Canadians and Swedes who die from cardiovascular disease is nearly identical (per capita) to the number of people who die from heart disease in this country."
Performing bypass surgery or angiography on a patient with heart disease is like pumping air into a car tire that has a slow leak. Sure, the tire will be sufficiently inflated for a while, but eventually the tire will have deflated so much that the car is not drivable. If the hole is not patched, the tire will deflate each time it is pumped up.
So is the case with a patient with heart disease. The bypass or the angioplasty and stent will fix the probably temporarily, because these procedures provide clear passage ways for the blood; however, the arteries will repeatedly occlude unless the cause of the problem is addressed.
In most cases, blockages form when cholesterol levels are -- pardon the expression -- out of whack, and unless you fix cholesterol levels, blockages will continue to form. Research proves that following a low-fat plant based diet can improve cholesterol levels and prevent future blockages. Cholesterol levels consistently kept below 150 mg/dl can reverse blockages that have already formed.
Additional lifestyle habits such as regular exercise, smoking cessation, and reducing chronic inflammation can help to slow the progression and can even reverse blockages that already exist.
