Museum of Discovery and Science

On Friday, April 4, the Museum of Discovery and Science will host its 19th Annual Bank of America Wine, Spirits and Culinary Celebration, with all proceeds benefiting the Museum’s exhibits, films, education, conservation, and outreach programs.

Last year’s Wine, Spirits, and Culinary Celebration set an attendance record with over 2,000 guests. This year’s event, co-chaired by Mark Talbott, John Ebenger and Vivian Porcelli, will seek to top that record, showcasing a sequence of wine or spirits, and culinary samples each bound to delight, educate and entertain guests and their palates. The highlights of the evening are tastings from over 40 of South Florida’s leading restaurants, and a vast array of wines and spirits from around the world, courtesy of beverage sponsor Southern Wine and Spirits. There will also be an assortment of craft beers to taste.

This year’s list of restaurants as of 2/18/14 includes: 3030 Ocean, A Thierry’s Catering and Event Design, Agape Cakes, Beauty and the Feast, Bravo, Café Ala Carte, Café Vico, Capital Grille, Cookies by Design, Crepemaker, D’Angelo Pizza, Winebar, and Tapas, Grateful Palate, Grille 401, Hoffman’s Chocolates, Himmarshee Public House, Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six, Johnny V’s, Mancini Las Olas, Melting Pot, Publix Aprons Cooking School, ROK: Brgr, S3, SAIA, Sea Level Restaurant and Ocean Bar, Shooters, Susie’s Scrumptious Sweets, Texas de Brazil, Thasos, Timpano, Trulucks, Vienna Café and Wine Bar, Whole Foods, and Yolo Restaurant. Guests will vote for their favorite restaurant which will win the honor of THINK Magazine’s “Peoples’ Choice Award”.

Visitors will also have an opportunity to bid on some amazing silent auction prizes, and each guest will receive a complimentary Riedel wine glass.

The evening will start off with an exclusive VIP Martini Reception from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. generously provided by A Thierry’s Catering. VIP guests will enjoy an exclusive seminar as well as early tasting. The VIP evening concludes with exclusive access to the ultra-chic Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort VIP Lounge to eat, drink and dance under the stars from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on the Museum’s Atrium. The evening attire is City Chic. Special seminars include a champagne tasting by “Champagne Wayne” at 7:00 p.m., teaching that champagne is not just for weddings, and a wine tasting by Big 105.9’s Paul Castronovo, from Castronovo Vineyards, at 8:00 p.m. Seminars will be held in the Keller Science Theater.

Doors open for VIP admission at 6:00 p.m. and to general admission at 7:30 p.m. VIP tickets are $150 per person and general admission tickets are $85 per person. Presale tickets are available at a reduced rate through March 2, 2014 with VIP tickets reduced to $135 per person and general admission tickets reduced to $75 per person.
