Bread can be an expensive aisle in the grocery store. With so many varieties and brands of breads- this aisle can consume a large portion of your grocery bill. Before you push your grocery cart to the bread aisle, take a lap around the bakery section. Occasionally I take a whiff and run the other direction thinking, “No, no freshly made donuts for me!” However, what lies inside of this section can highly affect your grocery bill.
Most stores have a luscious baking section providing customers with decorated cakes, cookies, fresh donuts and bagels. What many people stroll pass without noticing, is the bread. Every Albertson’s makes fresh breads daily. We all know the trap of the aroma of the French bread strategically placed next to the pastas. That’s no coincidence. The bakery cooks up many types of bread everyday at a wonderful value to us!
Hoagie Rolls:
This is a soft, fluffy roll, which can replace a sandwich or French roll. On the bread aisle, you’ll spend $4.99 (regular price) for 6 rolls. In the bakery, you’ll spend $2.69 for 6 hoagie rolls. Last night I used the hoagie rolls to make a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. My total for the entire recipe cost under $10.00.
During the holidays the bakery puts on a show for us! They bake many seasonal favorites like brioche and different cultural breads for a great value. Swing your cart back around and give your local bakery another chance. You may want to clothes pin your nose shut, to avoid any unnecessary purchases.
