Buy-it, rent-it, skip-it: movies on DVD/Blu-ray Tuesday, August 4th

The Soloist is heart-wrencing if nothing else.

Not sure which DVD to pull off the new release shelf? Need a new Blu-ray to show off in 1080p? Or maybe you're looking through the new releases on Netflix and don't know what to add to your queue?

This week you'll find quite a few films you probably missed in theaters but really should give a chance on DVD or Blu-ray:

The Soloist - Rent-it - This film starring two Hollywood heavy hitters fails to knock it out of the park, but will leave its mark on your heart.

Obsessed - Rent-it - For poor acting, rare thrills and pretty ladies and no other reason!

Race to Witch Mountain - Skip-it - RTWM is one of the better family films on the new release shelf, but skip it unless you love the Rock.

Labor Pains - Skip-it - Lindsay Lohan returns to comedy but the only thing funny about this film is the fact it went straight to DVD.

Movies re-released on Blu-ray format this week:

Big Trouble in Little China - Rent-it - Kurt Russell stars in the cult classic B-movie fantasy-action film that is as funny as it is totally awesome!

Sling Blade - Rent-it - If you didn't appreciate Billy Bob Thornton's ability before, you will now, seeing him as a disturbed and simple-minded 36-year-old adult who spent the last 25 years of his life in a mental hospital.

My Cousin Vinny - Skip-it - Though hilariously raunchy for its time, Vinny and his big-haired girlfriend come across as overly stereotypical cliches in todays comedic world.

The Waterboy - Skip-it - One of Adam Sandler's most memorable characters but unless you're a big football fan it's no better than any of his other films.
