Two companies are hosting fundraising days for Hartford organizations this week. On Thursday, the Whole Foods location on Raymond Road in West Hartford Center will give 5% of their net proceeds to Billings Forge Community Works. They describe Billings Forge as an "AMAZING non-profit located in Hartford, CT!" This doesn't begin to describe all the things that Billings Forge does, which includes work training (including in their bakeries and cafes, both at the original Frog Hollow location and at the Hartford Public Library), classes, a year-round Farmer's Market, and much more. Whole Foods urges you to "do your shopping with us to help support their mission!"
On Sunday, the newest outlet of Bear's BBQ celebrates its Grand Opening with an all-day benefit for the Hartford Public Library, giving 20% of all proceeds to HPL. Adding to the event, the Hartford Hot Several will appear "around 6:00pm" to add some funk and blue satin capes to the evening. If you haven't danced to their enthusiastic music or cheered along, you've missed a great Hartford experience.
Adults can move next door to the Arch Street Tavern (which has a number of tasty vegetarian options on its menus) for the Beat City Beauties' monthly show, which this month will feature two special guest artists. If you get thirsty during the show, Arch Street Tavern offers many options both local and otherwise at their extensive bar.
