You don’t have to wait for Louisville’s St. James Art Fair to sell your arts and crafts. Get space at the Flea off Market, and get involved with this unique local event. Even if you’re going just to browse, the festival atmosphere makes it a worthwhile visit.
It’s Way, Way off Market
Flea off Market has become so large, it’s moved even farther off Market Street. Now, this outdoor bazaar is located at the end of Baxter Avenue on East Jefferson. It’s getting bigger all the time. If you browse through the various stalls, you’ll find everything from food to homemade preserves to handcrafted jewelry.
It’s part flea market, part festival, part outdoor block party. Used and vintage items are also on sale. You might find Star Wars figures next to a stall displaying hand-painted shoes. Books, records, clothing and crafts of all kinds are welcomed at the Flea off Market. It’s a perfect place to shop for new craft ideas or to sell your own handmade goods.
Joining the Fun
The Flea off Market can be found the second Saturday of every month. It’s open from 10 am to 6 pm. Sign up to get your own stall and display your goods on the event’s Facebook page.
Good pricing (and being willing to haggle) are key if you want to sell your stuff to the masses. Display your items as handsomely as possible – make prices just a little bit harder to see. When potential customers try to negotiate, be open to that. But remember to be fair to yourself. Before you price anything, do the math. Add up the cost of materials used making the item, along how much time you spent on it, and assign the price based on both these factors. Your time is valuable, too – don’t forget that!
Even if you don’t plan to buy or sell, browsing through the items at Flea off Market is a fun way to spend a Saturday.
