Buttonwood Tree In Middletown CT Arts and Music Events

The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center in Middletown  presented an exciting jazz music program on February 19th with singer; Mary Ellen Lonergran, bass player; Phil Bowler and piano player; Alex Nakhimovsky. This coming weekend on Friday, Feburary 25 ArleneWow and Josi Wails Davis will perform at 8 p.m. They will perform a combination of jazz, blues and folk music. On February 26 at 6:30 p.m. The Riverwood Poetry series features poet and fiction writer Ken Cormier at 6:30 p.m. On February 27th poets ages 13-17 are invited to attend Final Tryout Slam for the National Youth Poetry Slam Team.  The slam opens at 2:45 and the event begins at 3 p.m. Poets should bring 3 poems to read and written copies. The Buttonwood Tree has art exhibits and sale on the premises. It has a bookstore where books and cd's are sold. The Buttonwood Theater is seeking volunteers to host weekend events, help with the bookstore, and work at the concession stand. This is great way to hear the weekend entertainment.
