The Buttonwood Tree Performing Arts Center had music and poetry on May 28th from 6:30 p.m. to about 9 p.m. Singer-songwriter Cameron Blake performed classical folk music accompanied by two other musicians. He is from Baltimore, more information can be found about him at his website at http://www.cameronblakemusic.com/ The Riverwood Poetry series presented an assortment of humorous to serious poetry at the Buttonwood Tree after the musical performance. This group meets at the Buttonwood Tree during the year usually the last Saturday of the month. The group also meet during the year at the Wood Memorial Library in South Windsor. They have a poetry festival coming up from June through Sunday June 28th at located in many different locations. They are open to poets reading their work at regular meetings. This weekend the Buttonwood Tree will have a dynamic reggae band perform on Friday, June 3, at 8 p.m. Don Minott is the lead singer and songwriter from Jamicia. His band has several musician on drums, guitar and keyboard. On Saturday, June 4 at 8 p.m. the John Funkrhouser Trio will perform jazz, funk, and blues. Admission to events is $8 for students and $10 for adults. June 6th has "Anything Goes with J- Cherry. Bring a song, poem, dance routines or comedy to perform. The Buttonwood Tree is seeking volunteers to help with weekend events and during the week. Help is needed with organizing the bookstore library, online marketing, and fundraising.
