Buttermilk Pie

Some of the strangest sounding recipes have been handed down from my Mom and my Aunt.  The ingredients on some of them are hard to follow.  For instance, a pinch, a dash, about a handful, or "add until it looks right".  The following recipe comes from my Aunt Stamie.  She never measures anything, but wrote this down to "pass" along.

                               BUTTERMILK PIE

3 eggs (whole)                               1 Tbl. flour

2 cups sugar                                   2/3 cups Buttermilk

1/4 cup butter, or                            1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

   margarine, melted                       pinch of salt

Preheat oven 300 degrees.  Beat eggs and combine with sugar, buttermilk and all other ingredients.  Blend well.  Pour into unbaked pie shell.  Bake 10 minutes on 300 degrees.  Then increase to 325 degrees for about 50 minutes or until golden brown.  Remove from oven and let sit until cooled.
