Jeff and Sandy Belth will speak about butterfly identification, gardening for butterflies, and native plants at 7 p.m. April 13 at McCormick's Creek State Park in the Canyon Inn. The park is east of Spencer, Ind. The event is part of the state park's Wildflower Weekend event.

Jeff Belth is author of “Butterflies of Indiana: A Field Guide,” recently published by Indiana University Press. Sandy is an interpretive naturalist with Monroe County Parks and Recreation. The book will be available for purchase through the Friends group. An autograph session will follow the talk.

Highlights of Wildflower Weekend include guided hikes through McCormick's Creek State Park with park naturalists, a regional ecologist and guest leaders. An off-site visit to hike Owen-Putnam State Forest with the district forester to observe blooming trees and flowers also will be offered.

Canyon Inn’s restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner during the weekend.

All programs are free after the standard park admission of $5 per vehicle for Indiana residents and $7 per vehicle for non-residents.

McCormick’s Creek State Park is located on State Road 46, 14 miles northwest of Bloomington and two miles east of Spencer.
