The Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso, TX is scheduled to host a local qualifier on Monday, May 10 to determine those players who will then compete in a regional qualifier for the Men’s United States Open conducted by the United States Golf Association.

The Tom Fazio designed golf course, with the nostalgic Old West ring to it, is quickly living up to its lofty expectations as one of the finest Championship quality venues in the Southwest. It has already hosted the Conference USA Women’s collegiate tournament, and its set-up has impressed the USGA so much that the course will have an opportunity to host a qualifier for the Men’s Open Championship this year.

The 2010 U.S. Open will be played at Pebble Beach Golf Links on the Monterey Peninsula of California, which has been consistently ranked among the greatest Championship venues in golf history. This year’s Championship will find several golfers beginning right here in El Paso chasing the dream of playing in one of the world’s four major golf tournaments.

You might want to mark your calendar to see if any of our local and world class amateur or professional talent is signed up to play at Butterfield Trail, and then check back for the results here on this site after the qualifying date.
