Butler declares official Spay Day

The cities of Butler and Garrett Indiana have both declared February 23 to be the official "Spay Day". Butler's mayor, Ron Walter and Garrett's mayor, Dave Wiant both signed the proclamations for their respective cities with representatives of the Dekalb Humane Society present.

Local communities are urged to observe the day by having their cats, dogs & rabbits spayed and/or neutered. Sponsoring to have someone else's pets spayed/neutered is also helpful and effective in the fight to keep the pet population down.

The Humane Society of the U.S. has organized a national Spay Day for the past 16 years. When local communities such as Butler and Garrett observe the day and urge locals to do the same, they are making huge steps towards ending overpopulated shelters and unnecessary euthanization of unwanted pets.
