He missed the Bulls Tuesday morning shootaround and there is some optimism that he could still play.
"It hurts," Butler told reporters. "I guess you’ve got to deal with it. This is the life we chose. Gotta play through it."
“There’s been a little bit (of improvement), but with your ribs, it’s just tough. You can’t move, you get hit and it’s hard to breath at times.”
Butler injured his ribs during a collision last Friday vs. Denver and missed the Bulls 93-79 loss to the Miami Heat on Sunday.
Butler said the final decision will be made before tip-off once he's gone through some cardio and his pregame routine.
“He’s still sore. We’ll see where he is tonight,” coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters. “Just day-to-day. It’s basically bruised ribs, so it’s just pain tolerance.”
The Hawks will be without their leading scorer and rebounder Paul Millsap, due to a right knee contusion.
