Busy Weekend on the Russian River

This weekend, the Russian River is the place to be for craft beer fans. Two events will keep West County partying back to back along River Road. It’s the weekend of the Russian River Beer Reveival & BBQ Cook-off as well as the Rio Nido Hoedown. Food, beer and good times are the theme of the weekend.

The day starts at Stumptown Brewery in Guerneville where the Russian River Beer Revival and BBQ Cook-off. This event is well-known among the craft beer world and sells out well before the day of the event (sorry folks, tickets are all gone by now). Thirty breweries and thirty BBQ teams combine to bring the best beer and BBQ to one place and all for a $55 ticket price. The party starts at noon with beer tasting from 1-5 pm and live music continuing until 6.

Just down River Road, Rio Nido Roadhouse also throws their annual Hoedown on Saturday. The Hoedown is a family friendly event featuring a full BBQ menu and live music from Southern Comfort. Games for the kids big and small begin at 5pm with music starting at 6 and dinner served at 6:30. Take a peek at the menu for the evening:

  • Fried Chicken
  • Marinated Tri-Tip
  • Grilled Sausages
  • Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Beans, Salad
  • Corn on the Cob, Dinner Rolls
  • Desserts

Tickets for the Hoedown are $20 for adults and $12 for the kids. Both prices are reduced from last year which will save you some money for having a frosty beverage to go with dinner.

While heading out to the River for these events, please plan ahead and leave your car at home. Sonoma County Transit serves the Guerneville and Rio Nido areas with Saturday service. For travel to and from Santa Rosa to Guerneville/Rio Nido, Route 20 makes its first of 4 runs down the river at 9am with the last bus leaving the Rio Nido region at 7pm. For $2.90 each way, you can save yourself the long drive down River Road as well as help keep the roads much safer.
