With less than a fortnight until CFL free agency begins, the Ticats spent Tuesday adding to both their coaching staff and player roster.
Early in the day, the Ticats added to their coaching staff by hiring Jeff Reinebold as the team’s new special teams coordinator and James Stanley as assistant defensive backs coach. Reinebold spent the 2012 season as the defensive coordinator for the Montreal Alouettes. Stanley spent last season as linebackers coach with the Grey Cup champion Toronto Argonauts, where he worked on the same staff as defensive coordinator Orlondo Steinauer.
But the Cats weren’t done there as latter in the day the team completed a five-player deal with the Edmonton Eskimos that saw offensive lineman Greg Wojt, linebacker Simoni Lawrence and quarterback Jeremiah Masoli sent to Hamilton for linebacker Nathan Kanya and the rights to 2012 draft pick Carson Rockhill.
Wojt is a former all-star with the Eskimos, Lawrence played sparingly in his first CFL season and Masoli will be in the mix to be Henry Burris’ backup. Kanya was a solid special teams player and Rockhill was Hamilton’s second-round pick in 2012.
