This weekend was the Arnold Classic, with an expected 175,000 people watching people strut and sweat. After the body builders leave town today, the different venues in Columbus will be preparing for a new round of events for the weekend of March 8 through March 10, 2012. We expect a much quieter weekend ahead for an opportunity to visit several spiritual events.
March 8, 2013 has two events that are both entertaining and uplifting. The International Women’s Day events are scheduled at the Mckoy Center in Hilliard from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. This day celebrates the accomplishments of women in many different areas. kRi and hettie are back in town to promote a new CD at a performance at the McConnell Arts Center in Worthington on March 8, 2013. Since their last visit, they have toured the US, and they contributed theme music for an important youth initiative in Texas.
They are releasing a CD that will be used for people undergoing extended treatments in hospitals and hospices. kRi and hettie combine music with inspirational storytelling that will have a relaxed evening that will support a good cause. March 9, 2013 also has the Dances of Universal Peace at the Columbus Mennonite Church at 35 Oakland Park Avenue, Columbus, OH 43214. The dances start at 7 p.m. and last until about 8:30 p.m. The theme for this month’s dance is Earth and Renewal. These are spiritual practices of simple body prayers. No previous experience is needed to enjoy learning and doing these dances.
This event is done without charge, with a donation to defray expenses very much appreciated. Potluck snacks are shared after the dancing. Watch the video to see examples of the dances from around the world. You can get more information at centralohiosufis@yahoo.com.
We are fortunate to have all of these choices as to places to go that have a spiritual and positive theme for creating peace and harmony. Make plans to attend one or more of these events. Your soul will thank you.
