Busiek's 'Astro City' added to DC's stable

Some pretty exciting news came out of DC today, with the announcement of a new, ongoing "Astro City" series beginning in June.

According to Newsarama, Kurt Busiek is returning to his most popular, endearing creation to tell new stories involving popular characters such as Winged Victory and the Samaritan, and introducing new characters including one named "The Broken Man", whom at the moment is being kept shrouded in secrecy. A new villain will also be introduced, assuming the moniker of The Ore-Master.

If you haven't heard of Kurt Busiek's ode to superheroes, seek it out immediately, because it is one of the best comic series to come out of the 1990s. Following multiple stories and heroes across the fictional Astro City, the series cemented Busiek as a premiere superhero writer, and helped catapult Alex Ross to insane popularity in the mainstream due to his incredibly realistic, painted covers. For those of you that have read the incredible series, this news is especially exciting, seeing as how most of us have been yearning for some new stories involving these characters since the last one ended in 2010.
