Bushnell's beauty and entertainment will leave lasting impression on theater-goers

Exterior of the Bushnell, located in Hartford CT

The Bushnell, Connecticut’s premier performing arts center, rivals any of New York City’s Broadway theaters- spending any amount of time at the Bushnell would be enough to impress any nay-sayers. Located in Hartford across from the state’s Capital Building, it is a destination worthy of any weekend traveler’s time. For Nutmeg natives, once visited, the Bushnell theater will become a frequent fixture for evenings out on the town.

Simply put, the Bushnell is breathtaking. The ceiling of Mortensen Hall, when sold out seats approximately 2800, features the largest hand painted mural in the United States. The majestic theater has three levels of seating: orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony. The second theater, Belding Theater, is more intimate with only two levels of seating; but the quaintness of the theater adds to its appeal making it just as majestic as its larger counterpart. The beauty of both is incomparable to anything else in Hartford.

The Bushnell offers a behind-the-scenes tour allowing individuals to experience private backstage areas plus a tour of the grand theaters themselves, along the way learning about the history and construction of the world class performance center. There is no cost for these tours, click here for info on scheduling a tour.

So, what exactly is performed at the Bushnell? There is something for everyone’s personal taste- cabaret, jazz, opera, plays, lectures, plus much more!
